Do I need to have a drivers license to join your tour?

Yes and it needs to be issued a minimum 2 years before the date of the tour. Riding on the Dominican Republic is absolutely amazing due to the topography and feeling of freedom - but it's also a type of traffic that requires a lot of attention. The Dominican traffic is not like the western traffic where generally everyone follows the rules.

What's the weather like - when is it best to come for a ride?

The Dominican Republic is generally a warm place on earth. That being said, there are rainy and dry seasons.

Rainy Season: May - November

Dry Season: December - April

In the rainy season 0-1 small local showers are to be expected. Sometimes heavy winds, sometimes a little storm or two.

In the dry season it also rains from time to time, but less frequent.

The good thing about the base temperature being so high, is that a little shower is some how just refreshing - unless (of course) you're in the high interior mountains. There, rain feels like rain and you get cold, unless you wear proper motorcycle gear.

How good do I need to be to join one of your tours?  

All of our day tours are designed to suit literally everyone who can ride a motorcycle and they are also suitable for riding 2-up.

What's the insurance and liability situation when on tour?

All of our customers must have (and sign off to having) a valid medical and travel insurance, +2 year old motorcycle drivers license. 

The motorcycles are insured in case of accidents involving third party.

 

Deposit Refund Policy

There's a bike deposit to handle on all of our tours. This deposit is locked away until the completion of the tour and if nothing on the bike is broken, we're returning 100% of the deposit. Broken parts are replaced with new ones at local list-prices.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

The only gear we include in our tours are helmets. The rest is up to you. 

If you want to use one of our helmets, you need to let us on know in the booking process so we can put one aside for you.

What riding gear do you recommend?

It’s generally warm at sea level but if you’re on a tour that goes to the interior high mountains, the temperatures will drop significantly. We recommend bringing highly ventilated riding gear, light motorcycle boots, a dual sport helmet, wind-breaker gear and a backpack.

It can rain from time to time (mainly in the wet season from April - October) and the good thing about the rain in the Caribbean is that you dry up really fast - except, of course, if you're in the mountains.  

If you don't have riding gear - we might be able to rent you what you need or get a really good deal on gear sourced from a local shop. Get in touch with us and we'll talk about it.

 

What happens if the bikes I'm riding breaks down?

It shouldn't happen too often since the motorcycles we're using are brand new and will be professionally maintained with routine inspections. In case something unfixable happens, we have a sparebike in the service-vehicle. Rest assured - no matter what the situation, we are absolutely determined to keep you on your motorcycle and continue enjoying the adventure as originally planned.

What's the weather going to be like?

In general the weather is really nice around here. We're talking 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit year round (25-30 Celsius) making the occasional showers manageable.  However, climbing the interior of the country can bring the temperature all the way down to 50 - 60 degrees Fahrenheit (10 - 15 degrees Celsius) and as low as low 40s Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius).

Is there a service vehicle?

Yes, on all our guided tours with minimum 2 riders.

​

How big are the groups?

Our amount of bikes limit the amount of riders we can bring. We have 7 bikes and from those 7, five of them are customer bikes, one is for the guide and 1 is back-up. If everyone bring a passenger, the group would maximum be 11 (included the guide).

What bikes are we riding?

We ride the CF Moto 450MT.

What is the security situation on the DR?

In general - and in comparison to many other Latin American countries - it's extremely good. We never had any issues.

​

Whats the daily milage?

Entirely depends on the tour we're going on but rarely less than 100mi / 160km per day. The roads on the DR aren't always smooth and fresh and while that might be a minus for some, it's an absolute plus for others. We can always tailor the choice of road from group to group, from tour to tour, go faster or slower. The DR is fantastic for dual sport riding as there is so many different gravel and dirt road options parallel to the tarmac option.

What if I get sick or hurt in an accident?

These situations are few and far between, as we strive to travel at smart and responsible pace that helps us avoid accidents. In the event of an urgent situation, however, our service-vehicle will be able to assist. The tour guide will always be trained in first-aid and be able to immediately help you, call the police or emergency services. Make sure to always have your insurance papers, card and/or policy readily available in case of urgent hospitalisation. Also make sure to quickly notify your travel and medical insurance company if need be.

What kind of accommodation can be expected?

Generally we seek out the best 3-4 star hotels available. Some will be better than others, sometimes there are dozens of hotels to pick from, sometimes there's only a few - depends on the destination.

Is there cell phone service?

Not always but if your provider doesn't cover the DR, we can help you get a pre-paid sim card with a data plan for your stay.

​

What languages does the guide speak?

Danish, english & spanish fluently as well as basic german and portuguese. 

​

What airport should I fly into?

We are located 20 minutes from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) so that's the best one and we include transfer service to and from PUJ airport. The second-best/nearest would be Santo Domingo (SDQ) and we can organise pick-up service from SDQ on request.

Are there any dangerous animals on the DR?

Not really. There's a few snakes and spiders here and there but they're generally not venomous nor dangerous.

In general, the DR has a very limited amount of wildlife.

Can I bring my partner or friend on the back of the bike or in the van?

Absolutely. We totally recommend bringing your loved one or a friend.

How do I register for a tour?

First, you go to the tour you're interested in registering for and you fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

Second, you receive an email from us with 2 pieces of key-information:

1) Availability on the tour as per your request

2) Payment Information

If there are still spots left for the tour you want to join, you have 48 hours to reserve your spot with a 500$ deposit.

If there's no spots left, you're offered a spot on the waiting list, no deposit needed to be made.
